How many boxes do I need?
Everyone knows that you shouldn’t pack heavy items into big boxes. Plates, books and DVDs can become very heavy when stacked in large quantities. “How many small boxes do I need?” I hear you ask. We here is a handy guide when it comes to packing.
For each full dinner service setting you will need 5 x crystal cartons, 2.5kg of butchers paper, 20mtr of bubble wrap and tape. It is important to remember that is you are packing silverware, china or crystal that you will need to pick up a roll of tissue paper as well.
For each standard book shelf you will need 5 x book boxes and tape
This bring us to large boxes and what they are good for.
Each member of the house hold will generally need 3 tea chest cartons, 1 x crystal box and tape. If the member is a teenager they will generally need and extra tea chest and crystal carton. Preteens will generally need and extra 2 tea chest to allow for toys.
Tea chests a suggested in lieu of storage bags if you are looking at storing you items to conserve space. Boxes will stack up, bags will not.
Port – a – Robe Boxes are great for not only moving but storage as well. Using the Port – a – Robe box instead of storage bags will mean packing and unpacking is a breeze as items will not need to be ironed again after unpacking. Your average built in wardrobe will use up 2 Port – a - Robe boxes.
A single 75mtr roll of tape will get you through 15 boxes. This allows for taping the sides of the tops and bottoms of you boxes
Every move can generally be taken care of with the above mentioned boxes. However it is not uncommon to have items not mentioned above. Remember to ask a Storage King staff member about our full range of boxes that we have available. We stock everything from wine boxes to TV boxes. We even have boxes for packing furniture that has been dismantled.
