Community Spirit

By Rebecca Voice
SK Midland, WA

I have been in customer service all my working life. Since joining the Storage King team two years ago I have become really proud of the interaction between my work colleges, customers and I. I’ve always believed that a happy and satisfied customer walking out the door equals a job well done. But it can go further still – the local community of which Storage King Midland is a part of.

Being involved in several local community initiatives, alongside other likeminded people makes me proud to work for a company that incorporates the community like the way Storage King does. The recent bushfire events in and around the Perth Hills were testament to this. Whilst the events didn’t seem to have much in the way of media coverage, there were many people affected including 52 homes lost.

Midland, where we are located, is at the base of the Hills and is in a town with strong Community Spirit. This was clearly made evident as almost as soon as we’d expressed our support for the cause, donations began to role in from far and wide, even as far away as Kalgoorlie some 570 km away. We were only too happy to open our doors and accept the much needed donations and provide support. We also housed the overflow to several charities. It was amazing to witness these groups all working side by side ensuring the correct items were getting out to those who needed it most. Pets were also catered for with dog and cat food as well as bird seed being brought in, with just about everything else you can think of. Even now long after the fires have been extinguished there are tireless workers still pushing on in the back ground helping people back on their feet. It is with great pleasure that we are able to continue to offer our assistance to those most affected with boxes and storage.

To the charities, Midland Community and to the people who organised donations (full Pallet loads in some cases!!), we cannot thank you enough for your efforts and generosity.
