Responsible Electronics Recycling in a Connected World
Electronics,
mobiles, gadgets and endless batteries! It’s a truly connected world and many
of us benefit from the convenience and entertainment provided by such devices.
But
our consumption of electronics is unprecedented and needs some sensible
management to ensure that the scarce materials they are made from are reused
and recycled responsibly.
The
scale of the problem is big and growing each year. In 2010 around 110,000
tonnes of televisions and computers reached end-of-life in Australia, and this is
expected to rise to 320,000 tonnes by 2023. And these figures don’t even include
mobiles, batteries and small appliances.
So
what can we do to stop unwanted electronics going to landfill and ensure responsible
reuse of the scarce materials?
Practical,
accessible solutions are out there. All
we need to do is make a bit of an effort and do the right thing with our old
electronics.
For
your old mobiles and accessories drop them off at your nearest MobileMuster collection point. It is the only not-for-profit Government
accredited mobile phone recycling program in Australia. So you can be assured
your mobiles & accessories will be recycled securely, safely and ethically.
Any data left on your mobile will be destroyed and nothing is resold.
