Working at
Storage King, we all do our utmost to find storage solutions for our customers.
The strangest request I have
experienced was to provide secure storage for a space capsule. The customer
said it was a full-sized mock-up prop of a Mercury Space Capsule, 4 to 5 metres
in diameter, just like NASA used for their early test flights.
Normally
such a storage area is readily available, however access to place such a large
object into a storage space is limited to the size of the entrance door. A
solution was found and a storage deal struck. The customer was amazed and
thanked us for solving his storage need.
After about
three years, I having moved to another storage facility, was contacted by the
somewhat puzzled manager from that previous facility who asked “How the hell
did you get that space capsule into the storage unit?” I explained, “Just take
down the bloody wall”.
